Democracy Fellow
Democracy Fellows are student civic leaders based out of the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement. Fellows serve in a semester-long commitment to developing as a leader and supporting the civic engagement of their peers.
We are seeking students who are passionate about civic engagement, politically interested, and are self-starters to publicize the 2024 general election and help their peers register and vote, as well as work together with faculty and staff to develop and carry out a nonpartisan voter engagement plan for the upcoming election season.
Responsibilities include:
- Attending and contributing at weekly team meetings
- Hosting voter registration drives
- Organizing and implementing activities to engage students (Block Party for National Voter Registration Day, Walk to the Polls, etc.)
- Facilitating Voting 101 workshops
- Training and managing student volunteers
- Commitment to nonpartisanship
- Timely communication and coordination with supervisor and team
Skills required:
- Knowledgeable or ability to learn about voting process
- Energetic and enthusiastic about reaching out to peers
- Organized
- Reliable
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills
- Event planning and management
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
