We are seeking motivated and culturally knowledgeable students to join a research project that examines anti-Asian hate, bias, and prejudice in North Carolina, with a focus on understanding community experiences and responses. Research assistants will be involved in all stages of the project, including:

Recruiting participants through community networks (both online and in person)

Supporting faculty during interviews and community outreach activities

Assisting with transcription, qualitative data coding, and analysis

This position offers meaningful, hands-on experience with community-based and qualitative research. Students will gain valuable skills in data collection, cross-cultural communication, and research ethics while contributing to an important study on racial justice and social inclusion. The experience will be particularly relevant for students interested in careers or graduate study in sociology, criminology, public health, education, or community advocacy. As part of the assistantship, students will also prepare and present a research poster showcasing their work at the Beginning-of-Year Research and Creative Activity Showcase in August 2026.
