African American and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) 
Program Assistants provide assistance for the AADS program, students, staff, and faculty.

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Provide coverage for the front office (when needed) including assist guests who visit the space, maintain a tidy work environment, stay aware of AADS events, resources, and services to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Assist with administrative tasks for information fairs, outreach events, the CACE conference, and additional special events throughout the academic year. These tasks will require exceptional attention to detail and the ability to closely follow directions when necessary.
  • Provide administrative support to AADS faculty and staff in planning and preparing for presentations, interviews, and student appointments.
  • Assist with maintaining AADS space (the Nourish Nook and Resource Closet)

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Applicant must be a full-time UNCG student enrolled for Fall 2026 who has been awarded and has accepted Federal Work Study for the 2026-2027 academic year. 
  • The applicant is expected to have a basic understanding of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Applicant should have excellent written and oral communication skills, including excellent grammar and electronic correspondence etiquette.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: 

  • Applicants should be well-organized and detail-oriented and comfortable with multi-tasking and accomplishing various tasks within strict time constraints.
  • Applicants should demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
  • Applicant should be able to provide friendly and action-oriented customer service.
  • Applicant should be able to work 8-12 hours per week (more hours per week may be requested during specific events such as the CACE conference)

Our office is open from 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday, and we are looking for students who are available to be in the office for a few hours on Tuesday and Thursday (as well as engage in independent work).
