Social Media Marketing Intern

The social media marketing intern in University Communications helps to maintain and produce a variety of content for the University’s social media channels – primarily Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube.  

 

This position is for the 2026-27 academic year, although there is potential for an earlier start date in the summer.  

Hours 

  • 10-20 hours a week, with exact days and hours depending on class schedule. 
  • The pay is $15 per hour.  

 

Duties include:  

  • Filming and editing short-form, vertical videos and story segments that are posted on Instagram and Facebook reels, YouTube shorts, and TikTok.  
  • Moderating social media walls embedded online.  
  • Creating social media graphics and drafting social posts that promote University stories and events.  
  • Occasionally attending on- and off-campus events to document events or assist the team with video shoots.  
  • Attending weekly planning and brainstorming meetings, and staying abreast of events, topics, and trends of interest to students. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Self-directed, organized, attentive to detail, with strong writing ability, and ability to work in a team environment.  
  • Comfortable talking on camera, talking to people, and attending campus events. 
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere or other video editing software. 
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canva and Adobe Express.  Experience with Adobe After Effects and the ability to create illustrations are a plus.  
  • Applicants will need to provide video and graphic design samples. 
  • Adept at using social media platforms, especially TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.  
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends and provide their own transportation to the office. University Communications is located on the third floor of 1100 W. Market St. 
  • Available on Monday afternoons for team meetings. The assistant will also need to attend biweekly content creator meetings, currently held biweekly on Wednesday mornings.
