About the DMC: Located on the lower level of Jackson Library, the Digital Media Commons (DMC) provides students with access to innovative spaces and resources that support 21st-century learning. From high-quality multimedia equipment to dedicated spaces like our podcast studio, photography studio, sewing studio and maker studio, the DMC has it all. Here, you’ll play a vital role in supporting Jackson Library's mission of promoting learning, inspiring creativity, and enhancing research and collaboration in a diverse and innovative environment.
Available Work Hours: Regular DMC hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, Fridays, 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturdays, 10 AM – 7 PM and Sundays, 10 AM – 9 PM.

The Role: As a Multimedia Student Assistant, you’ll work at the DMC service desk, assisting library patrons with equipment checkout/in, space reservations and usage, and multimedia projects using multimedia equipment and popular software applications. Key responsibilities include:
- Opening and closing the DMC service desk
- Checking in/out equipment using the WMS library management system
- Assisting patrons with their DMC space reservations using SpringShare software
- Operating and troubleshooting equipment in various spaces including the Maker Space, Sewing Studio, Podcasting Studio, Photography, Videography, and Podcasting Studio, and VR and Gaming Studio
- Keeping DMC spaces organized, clean, and ready for use
- Supporting events, including setup and take-down
- Assisting patrons with popular digital media software such as Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Blender, Canva, Microsoft applications, etc. through one-on-one consultations
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Skills We’re Looking For: While training on DMC equipment and library management system software will be provided, intermediate experience in one or more of the following areas is a bonus: Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Adobe Express, etc.), Audacity, photography, videography, 3D modeling and printing, or sewing.

Minimum Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled UNCG student in good academic standing
- Minimum 2.7 GPA
- Availability to work at least 8 hr./wk. during regular DMC hours
- Availability to work some evening and/or weekend shifts
- Ability to physically and visually inspect DMC equipment
- Basic awareness and demonstrated interest in some multimedia software or equipment offered by the DMC
